Species use a Kold Ster-il® for water production?


If your tapwater is low in hardness i.e. calcium & Magnesium cations (50-150µ/S Conductivity) then the Kold Ster-il® will remove tapwater's other undesirable contaminates: chlorine, odors, taste, dissolved organics, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals, pesticides, phosphates, particulates, Coliforms and Giardia & Cryptosporidium. Lower hardness water normally has a 6.00-7.50 pH range and may be adjusted downward through the addition of dilute i.e. Hydrochloric {HCL 0.5%} or Sulfuric (H2 SO4 0.5%) acids. However, if tapwater is hard (200-1000µ/S) we suggest the Kold Ster-il® System+ a low pressure R/O System or a Mixed Bed Ion-Exchange Resin System. The R/O or D.I. Resins would only remove divalent cations (hardness) and alkalinity (buffers). Next, allow tapwater to run through the Kold Ster-il® bypassing the R/O or D.I. resins. Simply, mix the Kold Ster-il's water filtrate back into the R/O permeate or D.I. Resin Filtrate obtaining the desired amount of necessary hardness. The Kold Ster-il® protects the R/O's polyamide membranes or the D.I. Resins from organics and heavy metals contamination which greatly prolongs usable life and increases outputs. We can even supply special systems that will produce ultra-pure water (.056µ/S conductivity) that is sterile and pyrogen-free. For example: Poly-Bio-Marine, Inc.® uses Kold Ster-il® as a prefilter to a 200+gpd low-pressure R/O System feeding a Split Bed D.I. System + ultraFiltration which produces 1.0µ/S Conductivity water (USP Grade Water). Intake feedwater in the City of Orange, NJ contains high TOC's, 150-250µg/L Copper, 500mg/L TDS, Phosphate based Cationic Polymer (Morph Lok) which will destroy a 1.0µm prefilter within 20 minutes usage. Our Kold Ster-il® protects our R/O system & D.I. Resins so well that during twice yearly membrane cleaning --- after five years we have 97-98% TDS rejection rate.
